Abstract

Traditional African performance represents a vibrant expression of cultural heritage, integrating music, dance, storytelling, costuming, audience participation, and spirituality. This study examines the role of traditional African performances in promoting cultural tourism and enhancing visitors’ understanding of African values and traditions. These performances provide immersive sensory experiences through rhythmic drumming, melodious singing, and captivating dance routines, while elaborate costumes reflect cultural identity, history, and social structure. Storytelling serves as both entertainment and an educational tool, preserving and transmitting indigenous knowledge to audiences. Furthermore, the spiritual dimension embedded in these performances highlights the connection between people, their ancestors, and the divine, enriching the overall experience. The study concludes that traditional African performances are powerful tools for fostering cultural appreciation, attracting tourists seeking authentic experiences, and contributing to local economic development.
